1. Kilchurn Castle is a 15th-century ruined castle located on the northeastern end of Loch Awe in Oban, Scotland. The castle was built by Sir Colin Campbell, the first Lord of Glenorchy, as a strategic fortress for his clan. It was originally a five-story tower house with a courtyard and a drawbridge. The castle also housed a chapel, great hall, and private rooms. When the Campbell Clan moved to Taymouth Castle in the 18th century, Kilchurn Castle was left to rot and fell into ruin.
