1. The Texas Capitol is the largest Capitol building in the United States, measuring 308 feet tall, which is 14 feet taller than the US Capitol. It was built in 1888 and is an impressive example of Italian Renaissance Revival architecture. Inside, visitors can find numerous works of art, including portraits of Texas governors, as well as a replica of the Liberty Bell. The building is also home to the offices of the governor, lieutenant governor, and speaker of the House of Representatives. The grounds of the Capitol are also home to several monuments, including the Texas Veterans Monument and the Texas African American History Memorial.
