1. Fushimi Inari Shrine is a Shinto Shrine located in the southern part of Kyoto city, Japan. The shrine is known for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that line the hiking trails of Mt. Inari. These gates were donated by Japanese businesses and individuals to honor Inari, the Shinto god of rice and fertility. Visitors to the shrine can hike the mountain trails and see smaller shrines and offerings along the way. The shrine grounds also feature a main hall, a pond, and stone foxes, which are considered to be Inari’s messengers.
