1. Engaku-ji Temple is a Zen Buddhist temple located in Kamakura, a city in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It was built in 1282 by Hojo Tokimune to honor those who died in the Mongol invasions. The temple is also known for its exquisite gardens and architecture. Interestingly, the temple’s bell was used to signal the start of the Battle of Kawagoe in 1639. Visitors can also see a stone monument with the Buddha’s footprint and a tea house where visitors can enjoy traditional tea ceremony.

3. The entrance fee for Engaku-ji Temple is 300 yen for adults and 100 yen for children. Visitors can take the Enoden Line from Kamakura Station and get off at Kita Kamakura Station. From there, it’s a 10- to 15-minute walk to the temple. Alternatively, visitors can take the JR Yokosuka Line to Kita Kamakura Station and walk for about 5 minutes.
