1. Muyil is an ancient Mayan archaeological site located south of Tulum in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. It was once a bustling trading hub along ancient Mayan trade routes, and features an extensive network of canals that were used for irrigation and transportation. The site is home to a number of impressive structures, including the towering El Castillo pyramid and the Conjunto Lamay temple complex. One of the most fascinating aspects of Muyil is its close connection to nearby Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site that boasts an incredible variety of flora and fauna. Visitors can explore the ruins of Muyil and then take a guided tour of the biosphere reserve to see wildlife such as dolphins, manatees, and jaguars.
