1. Hustai National Park, also known as Khustain National Park, is located approximately 100 km southwest of Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. The park was established in 1993 with the aim of reintroducing the native Przewalski’s horse, also known as takhi, back into the wild. These horses once roamed freely in the Mongolian steppes but became extinct in the wild in the 1960s. Thanks to the conservation efforts at Hustai National Park, the takhi have successfully been reintroduced and now roam freely in the park.

The landscape of Hustai National Park is diverse, featuring rolling hills, rocky outcrops, and grassy plains. Visitors to the park can enjoy hiking, bird watching, and camping amidst the beautiful scenery. In addition to the takhi, the park is also home to other wildlife such as red deer, gazelles, and various bird species.

2. The park is open to visitors year-round. The park’s visitor center is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. For more information, you can contact the visitor center at +976 7733 6936.

3. Admission fees for foreigners are 20,000 MNT (Mongolian Tugrik) per person. To get to Hustai National Park from Ulaanbaatar, you can either hire a private driver or join a guided tour. The drive takes about 2 hours from the city. Alternatively, there are also public buses that run between Ulaanbaatar and Hustai National Park, but the schedule may be less frequent. It is best to arrange transportation in advance to ensure a smooth visit to the park.
