Marseille E-Bike: Breathtaking Calanques Coastal Adventure

A great way to explore Marseille. Our guide, Cindy, was knowledgeable and always happy to answer questions and provide local recommendations.

Our English speaking (Dutch) guide Eva was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! My husband & I were in a group with 2 other bikers, which made this a wonderful small group today. Eva was very friendly, polite, funny, knowledgeable & most importantly passionate about our 6+ hrs tour. The scenery was stunning! These E-Bikes (much better than what we used in Amsterdam) made riding up the hill to Notre Dame de la Garde virtually effortless, like a hot knife cutting thru butter! Standing down in Marseille & contemplating riding a bike up that hill seemed impossible... The (purchased & delivered) picnic lunch thru Foda Bike Shop was fantastic while sitting on the rocks in Calanques National Park, followed by a dip in the Mediterranean. What a FUN day! We would do this tour again.

We felt like we saw everything. At one point my tire popped and our guide, Stephen, worked hard to fix it quickly. He tested it out too so he could insure it was totally fixed. We stopped at an authentic French bakery for lunch.

First of all, they should make guests aware that this is NOT a flat surface ride, and includes some VERY steep hills! As this was our first time using an E-Bike, I am not sure the ones provided were doing much assisting. They were fine on long straight-aways, but nearly zero help on the steep hills, as we had hoped they would be. We had to stop and walk the bike up a steep incline at least once each way due to momentum lost with constant stopping for cars or pedestrian crossings. Our guide was good, but selected a very expensive place for lunch that served only seafood items. This, after having heard of the excellent picnic sandwiches we could have had delivered to the beach. We do not eat seafood, so were out of luck - even though the place is advertised as a pizza shop, they would not serve it to us. They ended an otherwise enjoyable trip in the worst possible way - by not having transportation ready to take us back to the cruise port after, that we paid additional for! This resulted in a long wait, and promise of sending an UBER for us that never materialized. As it was getting too close for comfort, a driver finally showed up to take us...but dropped us off far away from the ship, about a 15 minute walk, because he "had other people to pick up"! Not a good way to end the experience...and reason enough to NOT recommend this tour.

We are an older couple in good physical condition. The ebikes made the trip extremely easy. Our guides, Eva and Hank, made the adventure fun and memorable. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed a swim (from the rocks) while in the Calanques National Park. We highly recommend this activity!!

A late start due to my misunderstanding of the arrival location but Martin rode with me separately to catch up with the group. Beautiful but kind of scary ride as there were steep hairpin descents on narrow shared roads. Iris was patient and helpful with most of the tricky navigation. A late flat tire was a problem because the guide couldn’t manage to change it so Martin rode out to the rescue.

Everything they promised was that and more! Took care of us from pickup at ship to return. Our tour host Phil was amazing, friendly, patient, caring, and informative. Not to mention the beautiful coastal regions of Marseille area.

Great trip with very good knowledge and hospitality from our tour guide, Gabi. She had taken care us very well.

A great way to see Marseille. It’s a long day, but the electric bikes are great. Marseille isn’t the most bike friendly city but our guide Cindy was great and made sure we were all safe. Be sure to bring your swimsuit.
