Reykjavik Food Quest: Iceland's Authentic Culinary Tour

Bryn was amazing. This was a great way to get to know Iceland, meet new people and try new things. Bryn made the experience that much better with her energy and enthusiasm. She was very friendly and easy to talk to — gave some great insight into everything from the food to the people to the country itself.

Our food tour of 5 Reykjavik restaurants with Hilda was a terrific introduction to the city and its charms. Hilda was funny and knowledgeable. The tour is more than 3 hours and Hilda’s comments and the great food kept us going despite our jet lag. We are pescatarians who don’t eat shellfish. At every stop, food was waiting for us that we could eat. A memorable evening—the food tour was our dinner for the night!

Our tour guide was David and he was wonderful, very upbeat and very knowledgeable. The tour was well organized. Each stop on the tour was ready for our group (about 14 people). The food at each stop was excellent and we paid for our own drinks. It was also a great way to orient ourselves in Reykjavík and to take note of places to revisit. Some people on the tour were from countries across Europe so that added to the experience. David sent everyone a follow up email the next day with all the specifics of the restaurants we visited as well as additional recommendations. The food tour was a trip highlight, a fun shared adventure with people we just met!

A wonderful introduction to both the Reykjavik food scene and wider information about Reykjavik, meeting at Harpa concert hall. We ended up at Hallgrimskirkja.Thank you Dagurr (the most famous hand in sports TV here on channel 2) who was handily happy to also be called Day for those of us with more of an English twang! I failed miserably to document the lamb soup and fermented shark stop and the hotdog stand. Please arrive hungry!

If it’s your first time in Reykjavík and don’t know where to go to eat or what to have this is a must see tour on your first day in Reykjavík. Our guide, Thor was fantastic. He described the food, The restaurant, recommended drinks and was extremely knowledgeable about everything. after the tour, Thor sent an email with a lot of other recommendations in his personal hotspots. On the tour, you will have Icelandic delicacies and most likely a lot of different types of food that you have never tried before. We recommend that try everything because you’ll be surprised how good everything really was.

Dagur’s foodie tour was an excellent way to kick off our trip to Iceland!
