Our guide, Sergui, was fantastic and had excellent knowledge of the area, including the salt mine and castle. I highly recommend this outing. However, it wasn't Sergui's fault, but the vehicle we traveled in was quite small for my family. Both my husband and brother-in-law are tall and have knee issues due to their age. A larger and more spacious vehicle would have made the experience better.

From start to finish this tour was amazing! The salt mines were great to see. Corvin Castle was beautiful and we would definitely consider it as a ‘must see’ in Romania. Sergiu did a great job at looking after us! He took some great pictures too!

Excellent tour with Sergiu - a very welcoming, accommodating and thoughtful host! He was funny and knowledgeable and made sure we had an excellent trip at every stage. He picked us up directly from our apartment, walked us around the castle, pointing out interesting sights and facts as well as taking us to a local restaurant for a quick lunch and then down to the mine. He was great at keeping us girls on time / schedule without breaking the fun. Sergiu described how busy the mine could get in peak season so I'm definitely glad we went in the off season to avoid all the queues for the elevators! If you only have one free day I would definitely recommend this tour - there's a lot of driving but Sergiu kept it fun and entertaining (and he didnt mind when we doozed off from jetlag!) He was also able to recommend some local restaurants / bars for the rest of our stay in Timisoara

The trip was organized by Sergiu from TimisoaraCityTours. I highly it: it's definelty a must do! The 1 day trip is about visiting the beautiful and historical Corvin's Castle that hides many secrets as well as breathing the most pure salty air inside Turda Salt Mine. It's hard to describe in words the relaxing feeling that I had. Sergiu it's an amazing driver and the stories and his guidance through this places were mentioned in such pleasant way that for a second it felt like I was back in time, being part of the making 🙂 Thank you!

I cannot begin to describe how great this tour was! Sergiu was brilliant from the moment he picked us up, and you won't find a more personal tour out there. We began with a 3 hour drive to Turda Salt Mine, with Sergiu telling us all about Transylvania and various locations to visit around Romania. We chatted about so much that the time absolutely flew by!! Now into the Salt Mine, wow! The pictures on Google do not do this justice and you cannot begin to appreciate the scale of this until you are inside. Sergiu explained the historical processes of how Salt was mined and we climbed down to see the Lake which is indescribable, and the rock patters just so beautiful. Next we drove towards Corvin Castle, with Sergiu giving us the context around its origins... and stopped for lunch in a traditional Romanian restaurant. Sergiu explained to us the most traditional options and we went for Tripe Soup, Transylvania Stew... and somehow made room for Papanasi for dessert! You must try this!! I have eaten traditional food in many countries but nothing comes close to this experience, and it was so great to be able to eat with Sergiu which just made the tour so much more personal than most out there. We dashed across to the Castle which is stunning, and Sergiu gave us an excellent tour. The highlights being the stories of the Bear Cave and Turkish prisoners but I won't spoil those! To see the surroundings of Hunnedora from such a viewpoint was great, and even the Rainbow which appeared couldn't bring the Communist blocks in the distance into colour. What a contrast. What a tour. We took some great pics with Sergiu and sadly had to head back. After an epic drive back through Transylvania it was time to depart and begin planning all the other trips to do in the future with Timisoara City Tours!! 10/10 doesn't go far enough to do this tour justice, and I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone interested in seeing more of Romania from Timisoara!

Amazing sights in Turda Salt Mine and at Corvins' castle. Sergiu was super friendly and told us interesting historical facts and local legends related to the landmarks as well as tips for visiting Timisoara. Bonus: lunch at Corviniana was great!

Actually, we did much more on this trip than the Salt Mine and Corvin Castle. The trip was planned by Sergiu from Timisoara City Tours, after a lot of discussion about what we had already seen in Romania, what we liked, what we should not miss. Sergiu put together a two night, three day plan that gave us a view of Romania that we might have otherwise missed. We are in Romania for three months and this was our fourth trip out of Timisoara, our third with Sergiu. I found it extremely helpful for Sergiu to plan our trip. However, the most value we received was the translation services on the trip and the accommodation stay bookings, as well as his communication with people we needed to meet with on off-season times. We would have missed a great deal without the ability to communicate with people like the woman who cooked for us in the Maramures region, the artist of the Merry Cemetery. After all, people are the most important part of any journey. I would recommend Timisoara Tours. We have done City tours with Ludvig that are pretty amazing, such as the Jewish tour, and the history tour. Ludvig is spectacular with history. Sergiu is flexible to get us out of town, and most importantly. . .when you are with a travel guide for three days, having someone who you enjoy being with is vital. He felt like a part of our family. Oh, one other thing. When you drive in the mountains and there is snow, how good to have an excellent driver.
