Breathtaking Moon Valley Sunset: Small-Group Atacama Tour

The valley of the moon is a spectacular landscape, but I feel that the tour is a little overrated. You only spend about an hour in the valley, at the same time as all the other tour groups. As a result, the dune lookout is crowded. There was a queue when I visited and it was low season. The guide before us was taking dozens of photos for each person in his group so needless to say that took forever. A couple photos per person should be enough in a crowded setting like this. The sunset spot is outside the valley and while it’s a nice location, it’s far from spectacular. You are looking down at rock formations from the plateau, so not a great angle for photography.

The experience was good but I guess this was a little overpriced. At least some snacks/coffee, wine or food can be included with this price. Moon Valley was good but the sunset was overrated.

The Valley is wonderful. In the middle of the tour there was a thunderstorm and the park was closed, but our guide Ernesto improvised an amazing tour with the van and let us eventually enjoy a gorgeous sunset. He saved the day. Recommended.

The guide was very kind. But I would go with a different company to this location next time. The van was hot and cramped compared to Puka Rami agency tours.

Moon Valley is amazing view on my eyes , even though we faced a little bit of challenge during the tour , but our guide still give us wonderful experience . And the last sunset comes out , and draw a beauty ending .

The tour to Valle de la Luna and other tours I took were great. However, Frank the guy who booked my tours was horrific in communicating tour details. I asked if it was possible to shift the astronomical tour to a day earlier and he said he would let me know. Never heard from him so when I finished the ancestral tour I visited the office and was told I’m booked. This left me with no time to grab a warmer jacket. In addition, I booked a transfer to the airport and had communicated to him via WhatsApp the time I had to be at the airport. Three messages over 2 days and no response. Again I went to his office and was informed my pick up was at 7:30am when I informed him I had to be at the airport by 7:30am. Miguel (although didn’t speak English) was very helpful and corrected my pick up time. I recommend not booking all your tours with this agency as once they have your money they don’t care what happens to your bookings.

We booked the tour after seeing the great reviews online and it didn’t disappoint. The scenery was other worldly and truly stunning. Our guide Javier was amazing and really made the trip. He was really knowledgable and very passionate which made the trip as great as it was. He was so happy to answer all of our questions and to take photos of the group, would definitely recommend!

The tour was amazing! We got to explore and see so many beautiful places. The tour guide spoke both English and Spanish so everyone understood the history he was talking about. Highly recommend.
