Everything about the trek was wonderful! The Peruvian Andes were spectacular and Machu Picchu amazing. Edward and Juan Carlos took great care of everyone and ensured that those who were slower had a positive and fun experience. Their knowledge of and passion for Inca culture and history really added to my enjoyment of the trip. I can’t say enough good things about our great guides, cook and porters! Thank you Alpaca Expeditions!

Awesome experience with Alpaca Expeditions on the Salkantay Trek. Everything was very well organised, the food was amazing, and the accomodation was great. Our guide Victor was excellent, very friendly and funny guy, very informative and helpful. The chefs, porters, and horsemen were all awesome too. Of course, the trek itself was stunning too. All in all, highly recommended.

The guide Victor Sumac was very knowledgeable and friendly. He was an amazing group leader who kept everyone's wellbeing in mind. Both the chef and su chef made very very delicious food and the porters did an amazing job moving all the gear. The Salkantay trail has incredible views and it feels like a true achievement arriving at Machu Pichu. Very much recommend

Our guides, Cesar and Henrry, were so much fun and made the challenging trek on the Salkantay trail one of my favorite experiences. The first camping site was just pure mud, which kind of sucked, but dinner made it totally worth it. The food provided by Balberto was delicious, I especially loved the all the soups with the pico, the trout, avocado salad, and mango ceviche. Honestly I need the recipe for the mango ceviche, I could eat that over and over again. The trek was extremely hard, but the guides were motivating and made sure we all made it to the end! Bring protein, the food was carb heavy and sometimes there was barely any protein. I’m so happy I brought jerky and salami.

We loved it! We had the best team. We were on the womens' only Salkantay trek. Our guide Solidad was an absolute star. She looked after us, encouraged us, kept us safe and shared her extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna with us. Our team of female porters were very efficient. The food was excellent. Thank you to Marlemi our cheffe How did she produce a cake to welcome us to Machu Picchu? If you are hesitating about this trek, then just do it! (But ask for Solidad as your guide!)

We went on the Salkantay Trek with Pillco from Alpaka Expeditions. It was overall a great experience, we had a group of 6 people in total, all within our age range (not sure if this was planned by AE, but seemed like it). The trip was really well planned, our luggage was always before us, the food was incredibly good and usually within half an hour ready when we arrived at a stop. Accommodation was for the type of hike definitely one of the higher standard. The guide did a great job, made sure everyone felt safe and well the whole time but also allowed for everyone to go in their own pace. We rented the walking sticks and sleeping bags and paid 770$. Alpaka Expeditions and our guide did a great job. The one thing to consider before going is to check the time of the year and be aware of the rainy season.

This was a women only trek led by the very excellent Soledad! She was a brilliant guide who supported our group of 5 incredibly well through out the trek. The chef - Marlemi - is a fantastic cook who produced very tasty meals for us and was very good at providing delicious veggie and gluten free options too. The rest of the team are lovely and worked incredibly hard as porters and looking after the horses - Eulalia, Melani, Pauline, Osvaldo, David. The Salkantay trek was excellent- some tough sections, but overall a fabulous 5 day walk through amazing scenery. The altitude did affect us all - make sure you take a few days to acclimatise in Cusco first. We had to go very slowly on highest points. Plus in October it’s the start of rainy season so we saw a lot of rain on the highest sections - Humanatay Lake and Salkantay pass. So make sure to take really good rain gear and warm waterproof gloves. The rain poncho from Alpaca also helped to keep us dry. The accommodation was good - especially the hobbit houses and glass cabanas. Last night in a tent where we could see Machu Picchu across valley was fab! Then of course getting to see Machu Picchu was fabulous - met my expectations and more! Highly recommend this women only tour.

We had an amazing Trek with Alpaca Expeditions. The whole team, lead by our tour guide Pillco, was amazing and everything was well organised. The food cooked by our cook Christovas was super delicious. Absolutely impressing to see what they are able to deliver under difficult conditions. And the trek itself was just stunning. So many different landscapes and interesting places to explore. Clear recommendation.

We did the Women only trek and there were 5 of us in total in October. It was a challenging trek ( Salkantay pass in rain and wind was a bit miserable) but great variety of terrain. Soledad was an absolutely brilliant guide she was really knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Her English was excellent. Marleni was an excellent chef as were rest of the team - so happy and positive and amazing the food they managed to prepare at 4900 metres ( including a birthday cake!). The team made our trip so special and very grateful to Soledad as I had bad altitude sickness and she really took care of me and made sure I was safe. My only advice to others doing this is be aware of the weather- October is rainy season? You will come to love your rain poncho
