Heraklion: Exclusive Private Wine Tour & Gourmet Lunch

My husband and had a wonderful day driving the countryside to two wonderful wineries. Areti was a knowledgeable and friendly guide. Having worked at a winery for 5 years, she did a great job of choosing and describing wines. The wine pairing lunch at the second winery was delicious and ample!

We spent an incredible day with Areti. We visited two excellent wineries and toured the wine region. The wine, the food and the tour were perfect in every way. We especially enjoyed spending time with Areti. She is knowledgeable and excited about wine as well as the Cretan wine culture and shares that excitement with you.

We had SUCH an amazing experience with Areti - this wine tour was definitely a highlight of our trip to Greece. We had a lovely afternoon sampling local organic wines from two different Cretan wineries; all of the wine was excellent and Areti really helped bring out the flavors and explained how best to enjoy them. We got to walk around the wineries, explore the vineyards and basements, and enjoyed the lovely views of the Cretan farmlands. Areti herself is such a pro. So welcoming, so knowledable, and absolutely charming. We were encouraged to try several things, and it felt like she really selected wines that both catered to our palettes and allowed for some further adventure. The food we were served was absolutely delicious, we even stopped by a local village to grab some cheese because we enjoyed it so much. Looking forward to touring with her again in our next visit to Crete!

Overall experience was amazing! Areti was a great guide, not only with the wines and their distinct history, but she was also knowledgeable in local history and culture. We could not ask for a better experience!

Areti was a very knowledgeable and fun teacher and guide! We drove into the mountains of Crete and spent the day at 2 wineries where ample food and wine was provided. Crete has indigenous grapes and the wineries visited are focused on organic and biodynamic grape growing and wine production. Toured a winery at one and a vineyard at the other. We also stopped to see an ancient wine press. I will be exploring more Greek wines when I return home. I highly recommend this tour.

We had a wonderful day visiting 2 wineries and an ancient wine press with our very knowledgeable guide. The wines were very good and food exceeded our expectations- absolutely amazing! The scenery was stunning and we enjoyed the tours at both wineries. Our only complaint was that this was sold to us as a private SUV tour however it was a small car. My husband and 2 adult daughters are very tall so it was a very uncomfortable car ride. I think the tour operator should clarify this before accepting the booking request.

10/10. Areti is extremely knowledgeable, pleasant and kind - she helped us learn so much not only about Cretan wines, but also the island itself. She also helped me navigate asking for a meal safe for celiac disease at lunch- lucky me as the food was amazing. The wineries were gorgeous (photos don’t do it justice) and she personalized the pairings based on our preferences. Highly recommend booking

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Areti was such a fun tour guide and incredibly knowledgeable about Greek wines. She took us to beautiful wineries with insanely gorgeous views, delicious wines, and perfectly paired local cuisine. She showed us local fresh fruits and herbs, and went out of her way to make sure our tour was incredible. As a wine-loving couple from Chicago, we would take this tour again and again. 10/10, an absolute must do! I never write reviews but this was one of the best parts of our entire trip all through Greece!!

It is a long day. Be prepared. However, the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and smart, she went out of her way to create a memorable experience, whether it was picking fresh figs for us, or visiting a local bakery on our way back to by fresh baklava. She opened my eyes to understanding how wines complement foods. She was light hearted and humorous.
