Exclusive Madeira 4x4 Safari: Private Full-Day Jeep Adventure

We were thrilled with our private island tour by 4x4! Nicco was excellent for communicating and very responsive to our request's, to change starting time and when our cruise changed our arrival time in Funchal. Our driver was Diego, he was on time and gave us a good overview of our day and asked us at any point and time if we wanted to make changes he was there to accommodate us. He was very conscious of our time requirements and in providing plenty of time to meet our all aboard requirements. I would highly recommend this tour and this operator. Thank you Diego and Nico for a First Class experience.

Perfect private tour. Driver Tiago was knowledgeable, flexible and good company. The classic UMM we were in is very rare, it was a cool vehicle. We also had a great lunch, Tiago’s choice.

We did west island tour with Tobias. His driving skills are out of this world haha. This tour is a perfect way to visit remote parts of the island (forest roads, very narrow roads through small villages). We also enjoyed our stops where we tried the best poncha and pe de cabra!

A great trip up into the mountains, with our brilliant guide Tobias who was informative and fun. Exciting off road section through the forest, which was expertly driven! Highly recommend this trip.

Lovely scenic drive, adrenaline ++on the off road traks! Really loved the hiden gems the ride offered. Its a must do on the island! The driver compliled a ride based on our requests.

We were in Madeira to celebrate my partner's 50th. We took our favourite travel friend with us. She had not been to the island before and we wanted to show her how stunning Madeira was. I booked the private jeep tour for the three of us on Friday, August 29th. Tobias was our guide. What a steady, professional, friendly driver. I expected to be a bit nervous with all the twists and turns through the narrow, winding streets. This never happened. We had complete trust in Tobias's steady hands. This allowed us to really enjoy the trip and focus on the surreal beauty of the island. Where there any highlights? The entire tour! The first mirador Tobias drove us to was stunning. There was an older gentleman collecting cactus flowers from a plant on the very edge of the cliff. Pictures do not do this view justice. And Seixal's black beach is stunning. The surrounding mountains and cliffs are straight out of Jurassic Park. But the highlight for me was our unplanned, off road adventure through a misty eucalyptus forest. Tobias told us we could stand up in the jeep. I had no idea I was going to do something like that. I wouldn't have done so had I not had complete confidence in his driving skills. I felt like a kid again. We couldn't stop talking about how fun and fragrant that part of our journey was. I plan on doing another private jeep tour when we return. I hope to bring my two best friends from uni and their families. I'll definitely be booking it through Viator with Up Mountain Madeira.

Great communication from Nico from UpMountainMadeira via text after we booked through Tripadvisor. We wanted to see the Cabo Girao view point, a short Levada walk and the natural bathing pools at Seixal and Porto Moniz. After that we just wanted to see more of the island at the guide’s discretion. Our driver was Tiago, a really friendly and knowledgeable young man who didn’t disappoint with our request to see more of the island. We visited the specific places we asked which included an easy 1.2km Levada walk. We did a bit of 4x4 off-roading which we all enjoyed, it was at no point extreme or dangerous. We stopped off at the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Fanal Forest to see the ancient laurel trees. We stopped off at lots of great view points to take in the views and get a few photos. The last stop at Ponta do Sol was nice for us to have drink on the balcony of the cafe that overlooks the beach and the harbour wall. Great day, definitely worth the money for a personalised day trip to get out and see more of Madeira.

What a great experience! Tiago was an amazing guide and extremely knowledgeable. Literally felt like my brother from another mother. I could not have asked for a better time/trip as he took us everywhere. Make sure to book HIM for a fantastic adventure and get ready to laugh as he is so funny. Some people are just born with it! I can't recommend any changes as the entire experience was lovely and perfect. Tiago knows all the great places and some secret ones as well. We’ve now been to Madeira 7 times - each time we’ve done an excursion with Up Mountain. Our holiday wouldn’t be the same without it - they’ve become like family! Nothing is too much bother and their knowledge of the island is second to none! Nico and Diogo are amazing and you get to see parts of the island that others can’t get to. You certainly won’t be disappointed!
