The four hour hiking tour excellent. Our guide was very knowledgeable and also provided us with a lot of Greek mythology. We has a great small hiking group. The tour was advertised as family friendly but it is a little strenuous if you are not in shape. It was nice to be on the peaceful trails and see the "hidden" monastery as once we got to Varlaam it was very busy. I actually enjoyed seeing the monasteries from the distance and on the trails rather than up close due to the horrific crowds. I would definitely recommend this tour.

It was a memorable part of our Meteora experience to hike around the bottom of the rocks and see the monasteries from the forest. Thanks to Chris for his knowledge, enthusiasm and explanations on local matters, botany geology and of course rock climbing ! Highly recommend!

Highly recommended ! We did the morning hiking tour with our very knowledgeable and friendly guide, Christoph, and it was completely worth it ! Pick up and drop off at the hotel, leaving at 8:30 and back at 13:30, we got to see 2 monasteries, one which is tiny and closed but beautiful, and Great Meteora. The hike is great, it alternates between easy and quite challenging and Christoph was very attentive to our needs and requests. We ate delicious figs along the way! After lunch back in Kalambaka, we did Agia Triada by ourselves: the path is very well maintained (45 minutes from the top of the village to the monastery) - it’s lovely - and again quite strenuous even though we thought we’re quite in shape 🙄 Anyway a guided tour in the morning and another hike along the well-marked trail to Agia Triada in the afternoon was a perfect combination for us! The Visit Meteora office is open until 10pm, they were very helpful to help us decide what hike was best for us.

It was an excellent guide through the area which was a significant improvement on our own attempt to navigate the region. It was very manageable even in hot conditions and the walk was paced so that it was manageable for everyone. Chris the guide was a lovely guy who was very entertaining and was great with some of the kids on the walk. He was very knowledgeable about the history and environment of the region and answered several other questions we had regarding local transport things to do ect.

We had an amazing hike away from the crowds. Chris is definitely am expert at what his does with a lot of genuine local knowledge. We saw many hidden special locations and lots of tortoises. We learnt a lot about the local plants and animals. Thank you Chris for a special experience.

Great low key hike up to the monestery, learned about the area, the history and the fauna. Evan, our guide was knowledgeable and well spoken! We thoroughly enjoyed our morning!

The Meteora scenery is awesome and I would highly recommend using Visit Meteora to make the most of your visit. We used their transfer coach from Athens and then did two wonderful tours with their guides. Firstly a 7km hike to Ypapantis and Great Meteoron with Kris - loved his helpful and funny nature and all his information on the local plants, animals, history and even suggested hikes we could manage alone. Secondly, a pretty challenging via cordata scramble up Great Saint with Kostas - he ensured our complete safety and took awesome photos of us being daring.

Amazing trail, great guide, Chris, small group of very nice people. We hiked through Meteora's forests & rocks reaching one of the peaks. We also climbed up the stairs to one of the monasteries and had a brief visit. The tour included water bottles and pick-up and drop-off at our hotel.

My wife and I did this hike with our 11yro son - loved it! Picked up at our accomodation bang on time, picked up 4 other travellers then up into the foothills. About 7.5km hike around the stone towers; we saw a couple of Monasteries, including Ypapantis Monastery - the one built into the wall - along with the statue of Thymios Vlachavas, Monk turned Freedom Fighter (against the Ottomans); neither accessible by road. We visited the Holy Monastery of Great Metereon - very cool to hike down to the Monastery when all of the other visitors were unloading from Coaches. Our guide Dimitrios set a comfortable pace suited for all, with well timed stops to explain the flora and fauna, geological history of the region, and of course the monasteries. He was a fount of knowledge, and really enthusiastic and entertaining in his Guide of the hike. The hike itself had some decent ascents (and descents), but definitely worth it for the spectacular views and a different perspective of the area.

We really enjoyed our Meteora hiking tour with Chris! We were picked up at 8:30am at our hotel and then were brought to the starting point in a minibus with the rest of the group. Group was small and mixed ages / nationalities. We hiked through the forest and up the rocks - note that (naturally) this hike goes up and down a lot with some steep bits and pieces. There was always a path, no climbing required and everyone in our group was able to keep up (Chris also adjusted the pace to make sure that was the case), but this is a serious hike. There was quite some shade due to the trees, but on top of the rocks there would not be any shade. We visited 1 monastery (the biggest one) and had sufficient time to walk around and Chris shared tonnes of information on the area, the rocks & geology, activities to do in the area, monasteries and put in effort to catch up with everyone individually. Definitely recommend!!
